Download social media data and content with Social Report

At Social Report, we believe that you own your social media data—not the social networks. You should be able to export all your data whenever you please, regardless of the network.

Of course, most social networks have their own data export features. But what if someone deleted your Twitter account or hacked into your Instagram account? Deleted content is usually not included in standard social media exports, so your data would be gone for good.

This is why we implemented a social media archive tool into Social Report; all your social media content from all your connected social networks is backed up to our servers. This lets you download a full archive of your posts, friends lists, visual content, and more without relying on social networks.

In this article, we'll show you how to use Social Report's built-in social media archiving tool to backup and restore your social media data.

How does Social Report's archiving service work?

It just works. We archive your social media accounts automatically. You don't have to opt-in, and you don't have to manually enroll each social network. Further, we download your social media content multiple times a day to make sure all content is up-to-date.

What content does Social Report archive?

We backup all your social media content—oftentimes more than what's included in standard social network exports. Think of it as an email archive for your social media accounts.

Here's a list of everything we archive:

  • Posts
  • Videos
  • Photos
  • Friends lists
  • Location check-ins
  • Account information (location, interests, etc)
  • Chats

How do I view my archive?

Viewing your social media archive is easy! Here's the simple, four-step process:

Accessing your social media archive in Social Report

1. Click the Reports button

This is located on the left-hand side of the Social Report toolbar.

2. Hover over Export at the bottom of the drop-down menu and click Excel Report or PDF Report

We offer two types of reports: Excel and PDF. Excel reports give you barebones yet easy-to-digest data; PDF reports are prettier and presentation-ready.

3. Select the accounts whose archive you want to download, set a date range, and select "All Data"

All of these options are available in the pop-up window.

4. Click the Export button, and you're done!

Social Report will now process your social media archive and send you an email when it's ready for download.

And that's all there is to it!

That's all there is to using Social Report's built-in social media archiving tools. Enjoy peace of mind knowing that all of your social media data is backed up to our servers, giving you redundancy if your account is hacked or a social network is depreciated.
